For the past three years, my team members and I hosted a pom clinic for young girls ages 4-14. We would teach them basic technique along with a two-minute routine that they would perform at an upcoming basketball or football game. As the clinic gained interest, we expanded into both a fall and winter season. My senior year, I was in charge of creating the routine and leading the clinic with the other two captains on the team.
2/11/2016Mountain T.O.P. is a week-long mission trip in Grundy County, one of the poorest areas in the United States. For the past two summers, I have traveled with the South Lyon First United Method Church and combined with churches from all over the country to complete projects. This includes building porches, sheds, wheelchair ramps, completing yard work, and just spending time with new families. The goal of Mountain T.O.P. is to fulfill the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of everyone we meet.
7/8/2017In 2017, after my first year of Mountain T.O.P., my friend Jillian decided that she wanted to carry the selfless and helpful traits of our mission trip back into South Lyon, we called it Valley Below. Throughout South Lyon FUMC, members of the church would approach us with projects they needed completed. From yard work to cleaning out garages, we were able to help countless members of our own community and gain many active members.
10/10/2017Every winter, around Christmas time, Salvation Army hosts bell ringing in many storefronts to collect money for families in need. We were stationed outside of WalMart, playing Christmas music, and kindly accepting donations from the community. I was able to contribute to this organization through South Lyon National Honors Society and bell ring for a total of 15 hours my junior year, and 10 my senior year.
